Barbed wire and Partridge Island

I was taking some pictures at Tin Can Beach and was pleased to find this barbed wire to frame the view of Partridge Island.barbed wire2barbed wire

Mangled barbered wire wasn’t the only discarded metal  on Tin Can Beach.  This old shopping cart has made its home on the rocky shore at the southern tip of central Saint John.

Third Vault Falls: a snowshoeing expedition

A buddy and I though we’d put our new snowshoes to the test over the last couple of weeks.  We practiced up in our hometown leaving our mark in the snowy trails of Rockwood Park.  Then we decided to go for a road trip and headed to Fundy National Park.

We walked about 9.5 km round trip and checked out Third Vault Falls.  We should have taken the lack of tracks near the end of the trail as a sign but we made it all the way to the foot of the falls, ourselves falling more than once (mainly me, to be honest).

The trip was worth vigorous and fun.  Here are some photos I took at the destination.

Nature Trust Trail

A friend and I came across this Nature Trust of New Brunswick walking trail along the Fundy Coast somewhere around Chance Harbour.

I believe the property trail is the Belding’s Reef Nature Preserve which according to the the Nature Trust is a 14 acre property.  The trail was a little soggy and parking awkward, but the view from the coast was great – a fishing boat was in action when we were there.

Birds in the Harbour

There were lots of gulls, loons and ducks in the Saint John Harbour today.  Here’s a few pictures of the ornithological action.
